I don't see how rules and forgiveness go together. What's the connection between all these commandments in the Bible and this 'grace' Christians talk about?

God's grace eliminates the need to understand or follow God's law

The law provides partial salvation, and God's grace covers whatever requirements we can't fulfill

The law of God shows our need for His grace

The law and grace are completely separate concepts that don't relate to each other
